1. Background check

2. 5-year work history evaluation

3. Verification of a current state license that is in good standing

4. An NPDB (National Practitioner Data Bank) report, which will tell us if a provider has any malpractice claims history or state licensure actions

5. A current DEA or CDS (This allows the dentist to write prescriptions)

6. Current malpractice insurance

7. Inquiry for Medicare/Medicaid fraud or opting out of Medicare

1Dental Refund Policy

Don’t love the plan in your first 30 days? Get your money back

Our goal is to provide dental plans that meet your long-term needs, including everything from dental emergencies to routine care. Most of the time, we get it right, but in the event that we don’t, you can cancel within 30 days and receive a full plan refund, minus the setup fee.

For annual and multi-year plans:
You’ll receive a full plan refund, minus the ^$20 setup fee.

For monthly plans:
You’ll receive your first monthly payment back, minus the ^$30 setup fee.

Why do you have a setup fee?
We don’t like these either, but it allows us to provide an affordable 30-day trial window for those who simply aren’t sure if the plan will work for them. If the plan is a good fit, we want to reward members for loyalty — which is why we don’t charge extra renewal fees (like our competitors). The setup fee helps us cover administration costs and continue to offer these plans at a low price.

Setup Fee Exceptions by State:
In the event that you need a refund, these 3 states have different laws:

Arkansas: You will be refunded the cost of your plan plus the entire setup fee.
Maryland: You will be refunded the cost of your plan, and you will be refunded all but $5 of your setup fee.
Tennessee: You will be refunded the cost of your plan plus the entire setup fee.

Refunds After the First 30 Days
We know that, sometimes, unusual circumstances happen that require you to cancel your plan after the first 30 days. Often, we are able to switch members to another plan that works better for them for free. In other cases, members finish out their year and simply don’t renew. However, there are a few exceptions.

If you live in Florida, North Dakota, or Oklahoma, you will receive a prorated refund for the remainder of your plan.
If a plan member passes away
If your membership is terminated by 1Dental.com or Careington

Other circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please call our Customer Care team at 855-329-6305 if you would like to cancel after the first 30 days.

Common Questions

What if I need to see a specialist?

The price list above is specifically contracted with general dentists. Specialists (pediatric dentists, oral surgeons, endodontists, orthodontists, periodontists, and prosthodontists) do not work off of a given price list, but instead give a flat discount of 20% off of their standard rates with the Careington 500 Series plan.

what’s not included?

here are a few things 500 series does not save on:

anything the dentist does not do (including lab and osha fees).
at-home teeth aligners like candid or smile direct club.
work in progress (for example, if you already have your braces on).

What if my dentist’s regular fees are lower than the Care 500 Series discounted prices?

If your dentist participates in the 500 Series network, you will receive an additional 20% off their normal price with your 500 Series membership.

What if I have a bad experience with one of the dentists?

We want to make sure you’re able to find a dentist you can trust. All dentists on this list have passed Careington’s strict 7-step dentist approval process and are professionally licensed in the state in which they practice, but if you have a bad experience, the Careington network takes quality of care concerns very seriously.

Can I see any dentist and get these savings?

Your savings only apply at participating dentists because these dentists have agreed to the savings list and also passed Careington’s thorough approval process. Make sure to check the provider list to see if your dentist accepts Care 500 Series. Every dental plan has a network to some degree (and in our experience, plans with “out-of-network benefits” end up costing more than they save). We do our best to keep an up-to-date list of dentists on our website, but we always recommend double checking when you call to make your appointment.

Pro Tip: Make sure to say “Careington 500 Series” when you call, not “the Preferred Plan.”

What if the dentist I like stops taking this plan?

In rare cases, a dentist may stop participating in the Care 500 Series plan. In this case, you’ll need to select another dentist from the list. If you can’t find another dentist in the Care 500 Series network that you like, give us a call and we can help you switch to our other plan or find another solution.

How do I know for sure what I will pay?

We sometimes think of dental work as one procedure, but it may actually have multiple parts. This is why we’ve provided the ADA (American Dental Association) official codes next to the dental procedures on the list above. Make sure you are matching the codes to the treatment plan you’ve received from your dentist.

For example, some people think of a “cleaning” as only one procedure, but a visit for your cleaning may involve three procedures: the exam, the actual cleaning or prophylaxis, and then some kind of X-ray.
